Thanks Granny!
When The Rookie was taking grandson #1 home after getting ice cream (a whispered suggestion from Granny), the request was “When you get back home, please tell Granny Thank You!”
Always the Scrub…
Somehow The Rookie is the scrub on the two-person Skylanders Team video game and always has to be this big dumb tree-looking character that waddles and looks like he’s carrying two suitcases around… here’s the pre-game discussion:
Flash: I’m the Captain of the Team, because I’m player one.
The Rookie: I think I should be the Captain, because this is a new game and I’ve been playing video games since before your mother was born.
Flash: So? :-)

Hold that Line!
The Rookie is unsure if “Hold that Line” is an appropriate soccer cheer, but it seems to fit Grandson #2. :-)
Participate!
Time for a new soccer season… After last season, The Rookie found the participation medal discarded on the bathroom floor, and decided that attending every game was worth adding the medal to The Rookie’s trophy shelf. :-)

Help Wanted?
The six-year-old grandson was asked to help put together a set of shelves. After correcting The Rookie for putting the shelf in backwards, he then said “You really did need my help.” :-)
The shower gift…
Soon before The Rookie was to become a grandparent, friends at Siemens/Continental threw a “grandparent shower” and gave a gift certificate which purchased this car seat. Today was Grandchild #4’s first ride in the car seat and in the truck with the roof and all windows open. What a great gift!! Thanks again!!:-)

Learning letters…
Tip from The Rookie: It’s OK to teach grandchild the alphabet starting with A, J, K, and Q… he’s gotta learn them all sooner or later. :-)
Containment…
Tip from The Rookie: When you have had all you can take in the restaurant, grab as many as possible and put them into a containment area. :-)

Doing it right…
Tip from The Rookie: When you pick up grandson to bring him home to spend the night, and he says “I’ve been waiting for this day”, you are doing it right. :-)
Selfies
The #Almost8YearOld grandson doesn’t like being on The Rookie’s shoulders while standing anymore, which is good because he is #AlmostTooBig.

On the shoulders while sitting down is still OK :-)
