Pure energy…

April 15th, 2017Posted by TheRookie

The Rookie could sort of hang with the first grandchild wave, but this second wave has a bigger gas tank… or maybe it’s just relatively bigger. :-)

Food drooling?

March 9th, 2017Posted by TheRookie

The Rookie was editing a paper (or “bleeding all over it”) for Mom at the supper table since he had to leave for a work call. What is the word to describe grandson #4 taking chewed-up bites out of his mouth and dribbling it onto the same paper?  :-)

Pass the time away…

Tip from The Rookie: After the first whistle-along of “I’ve Been Working on the Railroad”, repetition must continue all the livelong day. :-)

Caught…

February 5th, 2017Posted by TheRookie

The two oldest were teaching the “Rock-Paper-Scissors-minus-1” game they learned from Aunt Gigi, when The Rookie “accidentally” delayed a response long enough to get off of being “It”.
GS #2: You are cheating! -1 point penalty!
The Rookie: What!?
GS#1: I didn’t know we had points in this game. :-)

The Rookie needs a time machine to go back to third grade and read a few more books :-)

Dijon mustard?

January 15th, 2017Posted by TheRookie

The Rookie dozed off while keeping #4 and awoke to total silence and a bottle of Dijon mustard in his lap… It was like a reverse nightmare. :-)

Spoken history, 6 generations

December 11th, 2016Posted by TheRookie

The Rookie’s father talked today about his great-grandfather being at the MacLean house in Appomattox as part of the personal guard of General Lee with the next-gen in the room… 6 generations of history handed down live  :-)

What is on my arm?

November 12th, 2016Posted by TheRookie

The Rookie had not formed an opinion on the “buck nekkid” approach to potty training until the warm wet sensation started. :-)

Just a hug…

October 23rd, 2016Posted by TheRookie

Grandchild #4 is now “hugging” #3, but it looks a whole lot like a takedown and pin move to the The Rookie… if #3 ever starts “hugging” back, the furniture will be in danger.   :-)

On pace!

October 15th, 2016Posted by TheRookie

The Rookie’s family elementary school book reading record has stood for 48 years. Grandson #2 is on pace to break it!! Stay tuned :-)
