Hope..

There is hope for this broken world when grandson is singing louder in church than you are.  :-). #BlessingsOverflowing

Snack time…

The Rookie heard that grandchild #3 is now putting #4 thru brother initiation rituals, such as sharing a snack from the dog bowl. :-)

Grown-ups Only…

Tip from The Rookie: When grandchild writes “Grown-up Only” on a Post-it note and attaches it to the electric fly swatter, you know that a lesson has been learned.  :-)

Grandparent privilege…

Tip from The Rookie: Only a grandparent can get away with extending ice cream sundae snack to the one-year-old by squirting whipped topping in his spoon a few times.   :-)

Just before dawn…

The Rookie was outside at 5am this morning… not quite daytime yet, but the birds were in full song. Kinda like that brief interval after awakening when nothing on your body is hurting yet :-)

Best words…

Grandson #3 is starting to talk, and The Rookie thinks his best-pronounced words are “No” and the name of Grandson #4, normally used together in a short exclamatory sentence. :-)

The Previous Next-Gen

Mom and Aunt Gigi are standing in front of a box The Rookie helped design for power companies which calculated 3-phase voltage and current and detected faults based on software sampling in a DSP of sensors mounted at the top of the pole. The power line info along with remote control capability was provided back to the power company control center via a blazing 1200 BPS analog modem.

P.S. The Rookie showed this picture to the customer and suggested that the box should be mounted higher on the pole when the pole is in a schoolyard… hopefully they moved it up a little bit. :-)

May the Fourth be with you…

Grandchild #4 was still crawling a couple weeks ago, and in 30 minutes he visited the neighbors on both sides and the street twice. The Rookie can’t get a kid-friendly force field soon enough. :-)

Repeating history…

The Rookie and Granny are teaching the grandchildren (#1 last week, #2 this week) how to play Chinese Checkers on the same board The Rookie played on with his grandmother. :-)

All the way up?

March 26th, 2016Posted by TheRookie

The Rookie watched the 53-week-old grandchild #4 crawl all the way to the top of the sliding board and stand up on the top by himself today… at least he has a laugh of triumph and not the crazy laugh #3 has when he is doing something reckless. :-)
