Throwback quiz…
Grandsons 1, 3, 4 are riding in the truck with The Rookie. The discussion was about colors, where the story picks up with the fourth exchange to save time:
Grandson 1: “White is a shade of black.”
The Rookie: “No, black is absence of color, white is all colors mixed together.”
Grandson 1: “No it’s not.” (this is disagree #5 in the discussion)
The Rookie: “Dude, I have engineering degrees. I know about colors and light.”
Grandson 1: “Clearly you are wrong!”
The Rookie: (starts laughing)
Grandsons 1, 3, 4: (together start laughing the same way The Rookie is laughing. Could have been mocking. :-) )
Grandson 1: “Look it up!”
The Rookie: “I don’t have to look it up, but when we get stopped, I will look it up for you.”
After stopping, The Rookie looks it up. For the record, a shade of a color is that color mixed with black. Black is the absence of color, white is all colors mixed together.
And now for the quiz… which ancestor would have also said in a similar discussion “Clearly you are wrong!”? Hint: There could be multiple correct answers. :-)
Rider only…
Tip from The Rookie: You can buy the track and train, get down on the floor to play, build the track, help assemble the train, and maybe operate the turntable sometimes… but you never get to drive the train. :-)

Jane Austen
The 15 hour moratorium on The Rookie noting that #3 made the BIG raspberry sound when the Jane Austen movie started at bedtime has ended. It did knock him out faster than other movies. :-)
Danger to club…
The Rookie and oldest grandsons were playing golf in the backyard when the “Danger to Club” rule was invoked to move a ball away from something that would damage the club if it was hit.
Grandson #1: “Danger to Club? That sounds like a ‘just-made-up’ rule”.
The Rookie: No, that rule was made up a long time ago. :-)
Pay it forward…
The Rookie called the G-Grandparents today and said “Your grandson is giving a talk right now live on the Internet about his project”. Hopefully, The Rookie will also get to see grandchildren achieving at this level and all the levels in between. :-) #WarEagle
Snatch it back!
Tip from The Rookie: When you are handled the game controller to get past the hard spot, be prepared to lose it as soon as the obstacle is overcome. This rule also extends to Granny playing WordBrain. :-)
Who’s got the look?
The Rookie had to pause to note this picture… So far, #3 has the coolest name and the coolest look of the next-gen1, and he’s also got some smarts. How will that work out for him later in life?

1–The Rookie didn’t get to pick any of the names nor is there much resemblance with any of them and The Rookie, fortunately. :-)
Grandparent privilege…
The Rookie let grandchild pick out his birthday present, then bought the next size bigger. :-)

The blessing and opportunity…
The Rookie and Granny saw “I Can Only Imagine” this afternoon… a powerful story of hope and redemption. It struck The Rookie that in this movie context, the grandparent had a small role but impacted the direction of the story in a big way. This is the blessing and the opportunity for the local grandparent… to be a source and a conduit of support and inspiration for the next generation. :-) #ICanOnlyImagine #JesusChangesEverything
Young Wings…
The four grandsons aged 9, 8, 4, and 2 had an impromptu 40 yard race down a church hall this week. No one else was there to slow them down (not that it would have mattered) and The Rookie didn’t want to shout loud enough to stop them in church. Guess who won the race?
Yep, it was the 2 year old by a step (well, three of his steps) on the 4 year old, with the two oldest another 3 strides back.
The Rookie had thought the youngest one was fast, but the story is now upgraded to “the youngest one can FLY.” :-)
