The re-thought…
The Rookie remembers our re-thought to stop at two children instead of the original plan of three very clearly whenever all three grandchildren are playing at our house for more than ten minutes. :-)
Attention!
Oldest grandson has reached the age where his attention can only be focused when he is called using his first, middle, and last name… The Rookie feels like he is talking to a crime suspect all the time :-)
Nap time?
Here’s The Rookie taking a nap with his grandfather… somehow this next generation is not much on taking naps :-)

Sad and spoiled…
Tip from The Rookie: If you draw a sad face with the mustard while making a sandwich for the grandchild instead of a happy face, that piece of bread is immediately inedible. :-(
Warpaint…
When The Rookie was just a father, he would not have allowed a dry-erase marker war to start. The next-gen are allowed to go until The Rookie or his walls get decorated, then we collect up the markers, clean off the warpaint and move along to the next excitement. :-)
The favs…
The Rookie has found that each grandchild has his own favorite Sesame Street music video… here is #3’s favorite:
Not buying it…
This third grandchild laughs and laughs whenever The Rookie has to change a stinky diaper. No one is that ticklish :-)
Candid camera…
Tip from The Rookie: Discretion is needed when video recording grandchild playing a game, as when he notices, he may leave the field of play to stick his nose against the lens. :-)
Gum from artificial tree?
The Rookie was taking the ornaments off the Christmas tree the other day and found a piece of gum hidden in an ornament… the oldest grandchild’s secret treasure. He came over later in the day and it was the first thing he asked about when he saw the tree gone… good thing The Rookie held onto it. :-)
Sun is up, so…
“The sun is up, so it is a sunny day!”: A grandchild’s philosophy that The Rookie needs to remember. :-)
