Hair care…

Please note that The Rookie was not the grandparent who showed the grandchild how to blow his hair out of his eyes.  :-)

Sounds of Springtime

Sounds of Springtime:
The Rookie (rolling up the hose and feeling his backside getting wet): “Why am I getting wet?”
Grandchild: “Hee hee hee”  :-)

Swim coaches…

The Rookie observed another third-child phenomenon tonight… when it was bath time for the baby, the two oldest both had to be in the bathroom to make sure the baby was OK and (mainly) entertained :-)

Slimy is good?

Tip from The Rookie: A slimy grandchild is a happy grandchild! Just hose ‘em down before you have to pick them up again :-)

Always here…

Granny told The Rookie about taking the grandchildren to visit Papa at the cemetery. Before she could get everything explained, the two oldest were out of the car calling “Papa, Papa!” and running to look for him behind every tombstone and tree. Wonder if that was a crowd-pleaser in Heaven? :-)

3X the fun?

The Rookie and Granny could watch the clock when keeping the first grandchild and say after 24 hours it was time for him to return to his parents. Doesn’t seem to be a linear relationship when all three are over at the house… the closer we get to eight hours, the more it feels like we are approaching a cliff of exhaustion :-)

The baby grandchild is now shaking his head, but only when he is looking at The Rookie… what’s up with that? :-)

Number 1 Overall…

April 2nd, 2014Posted by TheRookie

The grandchildren came in from a long car ride very fussy and The Rookie had to use the overall favorite music video and sing along to calm everyone down. Note: The Rookie did not influence this overall favorite decision other than knowing the words and singing along. Oldest grandchild likes to sing along to fast songs. Youngest grandchild tries to run whenever someone in the video is running. :-)

Something to say?

The oldest grandchild will not tell The Rookie anything about his day until after The Rookie has given up and asked the middle grandchild about his day. Then, oldest grandchild has to be shushed because he starts talking for middle grandchild. Then finally, after middle grandchild is finished, the oldest will reveal the merest hint of his day. :-)

Pedal to the metal…

The Rookie is observing a new dynamic with the third grandchild since we only had two children… so far, most “first” activities for the third child have occurred prior to when they occurred for the first two. This further acceleration is keeping the grandparents hopping :-) 
