B-b-b-Bird is the Word…
The Rookie thought he was recovered from the humiliation of losing video games to his children and could take the three-year-old grandchild on the
“bird game”. Wrong again… in a big way. :-)
When it gets quiet…
When it gets quiet after all the Christmas presents are opened, it doesn’t mean the grandchildren are either playing or sleeping, as The Rookie found them both on the dining room table devouring the candy houses like Dueling Godzillas :-)

The Rookie is looking forward to the remake of this epic tale of Four Little Pigs, who were cousins who lived in the woods… :-)
Don’t look back…
Tip from The Rookie: After a restaurant meal, food settles quickly if you go to parking lot with grandchild and join him in jumping over all cracks, parking lines and yellow arrows. Don’t look back at the restaurant windows while doing this :-)
A win-win?
Youngest grandchild was brushing his teeth just after a bath while sitting in The Rookie’s sink when he “went to the potty”, which led to similar action in the actual “potty” by the older grandchild who is in “potty training”. While everyone else in the family feels this was a “win-win”, The Rookie reflects on this sometimes while getting ready for the day… and is unsure. :-)
I mean everything
Everything (and I mean everything) tastes better to grandchild when it comes off The Rookie’s plate. Be ready and plan accordingly :-)
Early to bed…
Just because Mom told The Rookie, “Don’t let him go to sleep before 8pm” as she skipped out the door didn’t mean grandchild was planning to retire before 10:30pm :-)
Dueling Lightning
The Rookie thought we were playing bumper cars, but Lightning in a grandchild’s hand moves in a third dimension. :-)
Strike a pose
The Rookie heard a triumphant “I got it!” from grandchild, and turned to see his brand-new Android tablet held aloft in the Moses-about-to-chunk-the-Ten-Commandments pose. When (not if) your favorite bauble is in peril, fight every instinct and do not panic :-)
