Busy, busy
The Rookie remains amazed at the relative activity level of two grandsons 18 months apart compared to how his two daughters were at this age who are also 18 months apart. Hoping that at least some of this difference is a boy-girl thing and not just an old-older thing :-)
Old enough now?
The Rookie noticed today that there are two grandchild car seats in the back of his SUV and he can’t remember ever having two child car seats in the back of his convertible. Maybe he really is old enough to be a grandparent :-)
From the heart…
This hanging plant was one that blooms for awhile, and gets then left on the ground thru the winter and usually thrown away the next year, but this one sat out in the yard all winter and thru the spring and drought.
Grandchild found it last weekend, drug it across the yard (bouncing it from the pot a time or two in transit), and filled up a plastic golf club shaft from the faucet to water the dead roots. Grandchild then directed that the plant hanger be set up and the plant hung up again, and The Rookie complied.
After a week filled with sunshine and rain, we walked out the back door this morning and saw the new flower… A small sample of the blessings that flow from the heart of a grandchild :-)
The Amazing Color City
Aunt Gigi constructed the amazing Color City pictured below. Ten seconds after the grandchildren arrived, The Rookie was informed that there were 7 houses and 3 cars in Color City. And then the winds of change began to blow and Color City was no more :-)

The grace that precedes…
The prevenient grace sermon came just in time when grandchild got away from Granny and joined The Rookie‘s choir on stage. :-)
Salad days…
Another Rookie mistake: When eating outside on the back porch, do not let the grandchildren talk you into playing ball with them at the same time. While they may be forgiven for accidentally bouncing the first one directly into Granny’s salad bowl, your results may vary. Not to mention the risk of falling out your chair laughing :-)
It’s from inside the house!
The Rookie needs to start working on scary stories as the grandchildren get older… the scary part will be if they get this one :-)

Mr. Big Volume…
“Thank you!” from grandchild speaks volumes! Only rivaled by the volume of food that is getting diverted from The Rookie’s supper plate into grandchild. :-)
A tighter spring…
The Rookie and Granny agreed to take the grandchildren to church and lunch so Mom could catch up on work on the Sunday after Daylight Savings time started, reminding Mom to change the clock so she could meet us with grandchildren at church at 8:30am. Mom sets the clock that also sets itself, so instead she brings grandchildren to our house at 7:30am. The phrase “Spring Forward” has a whole new meaning now :-)
Always…
Tip from The Rookie: The capacity of a grandchild’s pie hole will always be underestimated. :-)
