Stylin…
Cookie was helping The Rookie put up clothes and noticed that Granny’s clothes were in a separate part of the closet, and Granny had some pink and purple shirts that are her “favorite colors”. Then she went to the other side of the closet and pulled out first the lipstick pink shirt, then a couple of purple shirts with a “What’s up with that?” look. The Rookie replied “Hey, pink and purple are my favorite colors too” :-)
Settling the dispute…
Skeeter was convinced he was outgrowing Flash and demanded that The Rookie update the Grandchild Growth Chart. Flash is still trending above Skeeter and is now almost 6’ tall! Power Ranger is trending above them both and Cookie matter-of-factly believes she will be the tallest. Reo is closing the gap and could have a spurt soon.
Passing Mom…
Granny asked The Rookie to update the Grandchild Growth Chart. Flash has passed Mom and is almost as tall as Granny! Power Ranger and Cookie continue to trend above the scale, and Reo is also edging upwards. Skeeter seems to have started a spurt.
Century Club
The Rookie was impressed with the century-worth of birthdays, but G-Granddaddy was just happy to have some young blood to work. :-)
Cookin’ in the rain…
The Rookie had to finish cooking out in the rain which apparently meant the grandchildren could stay out in the rain too . At least the girl was smart enough to be in her car. :-)
The indoor picnic…
The Rookie remembers relatively quiet trips to McDonalds for the dollar meal… now the cost increase is almost the same ratio as the volume increase :-)
Pre-holiday shopping…
The Rookie experienced a two-hour pre-holiday shopping trip with #2 and #3… sample conversation:

Code-slingin’
Flash is now in 7th grade and taking Python Programming, and eagerly asked The Rookie to come sit at the computer and code with him.
It’s hard to imagine a more satisfying grandparent experience than to have your grandchild excited about an activity that you have spent a lifetime learning and be able to pass along some of that knowledge. Especially when it can be done sitting down. :-)
Growing, growing…
Time for The Rookie to update the Grandchild Growth Chart. Power Ranger is still trending above the scale and Cookie is hanging with him. Flash is getting close to passing Mom and Skeeter seems poised for a spurt. Reo continuing to narrow the gap.
