Dusting off the putter…
The five-year-old grandson asked to play golf with The Rookie last night (!!!) so we went up to the attic to get the putters and a sleeve each, found the putting machine and putted for awhile. The Rookie had to enforce a rule that the club could not be raised over your head in the house, but otherwise grandson had a lot of fun.
The unexpected thing was that before every putt he would say “Steady… concentrated… moments” and then putt. That’s actually a pretty good shot routine, but where in the world does this come from? :-)
Etc, etc
The fourth grandson is on the way and The Rookie has assigned him the working nickname “Etcetera”. It doesn’t seem to be catching on :-)

Some say that The Funk is BACK!!!… but for The Rookie, it never left :-)
Getting my goat…
Aunt Gigi normally attends a college with a Lion mascot, and bought The Rookie a shirt that says “Papa Lion”. She is attending a college in Korea this year with a Mountain Goat mascot. What will The Rookie’s next shirt say? :-)
Weather is frightful…
The Rookie is looking at the most snow we have had here since Mom was younger than the grandchildren. Glad the next-gen are able to play in the snow at their house :-)

Just-a moppin…
Tip from The Rookie: A grandchild will enjoy running the electronic mop of today almost as much as the grandparent will enjoy seeing someone else mop the floor. :-)
Up periscope…
It is getting old for The Rookie to have to open and close every door in the house when this third grandchild visits… it’s like living on a submarine that is taking on water. :-)
Third is different…
The third grandchild is the first baby we have been around that comes to The Rookie before Granny. It’s weird to feel really bad and really good about the same thing. :-)
