A recent exchange…
A recent exchange…
The Rookie: Don’t kick me right now… I am taking medicine that makes me bruise easily (shows latest examples to grandson)
Grandson (with all the innocence and sincerity of a four-year-old): Are you Very Old?
Granny (from across the room, not previously participating in the conversation but compensating with volume): Yes.
The Rookie: Well, not quite as old as Granny, but almost. I will get to stop taking this medicine soon so we can play more then. :-)
Hit it, Happy!
The Rookie wonders if the Happy Gilmore technique is legal in Tee Ball… seems to be youngest grandson’s instinctive approach so far :-)
One for you, one for me
The Rookie has suddenly transitioned from peeling each clementine and handing out one piece for each grandchild and keeping one, to handing out a clementine to each grandchild and keeping one. It happened Just. That. Quick. :-)
Built for two…
The Rookie has found that a single-player game on a tablet does not work well when controlled by six hands at once :-)
We’ll never forget…
The Rookie hopes to find out someday if grandchildren will keep playing when the cowbell pan starts up… :-)
Still a boy?
The Rookie has been the only boy all his life, but now that there is finally more than one boy roaming around the house, suddenly snack food purchased “for the boys” is not intended for The Rookie. Hmmm… :-)
Howdy do dat?
The Rookie was both embarrassed and impressed when the four-year-old grandchild could figure out the right combination of moves to make on a new level of a video game before he could. :-)
Passing the Spirit…
Cough, cough…
The Rookie struggles to maintain the aura of authority when youngest grandchild is swinging and “accidentally” knocks down his brother who wandered into range, then laughs evilly. :-)
Backside parallel with the floor…
The Rookie had to say “All four chair legs on the floor” at the table for the first time in awhile tonight… Oh Joy. :-)
